Physical properties of natural rubber
This Thesis is a review of the effect of temperature and frequency of oscillation on the viscoelastic properties of natural rubber when a sinusoidal oscillation, either electrical or mechanical, is used to stress the rubber. The Thesis is divided into two sections. The first part discusses the dynamic mechanical properties of various types of natural rubber vulcanizate, with particular emphasis on the interdependence of temperature and frequency of oscillation. The second part discusses the dielectric properties of natural rubber and again treats the interdependence of temperature and frequency on the Physical properties in detail. Molecular theories regarding the mechanical and dielectric properties are reviewed and applied to experimental data.
