Syntheses and reactions of some polychloro-polycyclic alkenes

This thesis is divided into two sections. In the first section the syntheses and some reactions, in particular fluorination, of perchloroindene and perdiloroindenone are described. The second section is concerned with the ring-opening polymerization of some chlorinated monomers using the catalyst system tungsten hexachloride/tetramethyl tin in toluene.
