This thesis examines the feminisation of football fandom in China through a qualitative study of women who support the Chinese Super League (CSL). While research on women football fans has grown in Western contexts, Chinese women’s voices remain almost absent. To address this gap, the study draws on 40 semi-structured online interviews and an online survey with 165 responses to explore three questions: the extent and dynamics of feminisation in China, the experiences of women in becoming and being fans, and how women negotiate gendered barriers.
